Naples is the chaotic, magnificent entry to southern Italy — but not motorhome-friendly (intense traffic, ZTL, limited parking). Strategy: bypass Naples city, head straight to Pompeii (30km east) where Camping Spartacus sits 500m from the ruins entrance, in a citrus grove at the foot of Vesuvius. Day trips to Naples (40min train, €4.10) and Amalfi Coast (train + bus) from the same campsite.

Practical Tips

Circumvesuviana train from Pompeii Scavi station: Naples (40min, €4.10), Sorrento (30min, €2.80). Every 20–30min. Crowded — pickpockets, keep bags in front.
Pompeii ruins: book online at ticketone.it — no walk-up tickets in peak season. €18/adult. Free under 18. Allow 4–5 hours.
Vesuvius: bus from Pompeii campsite, 30min to crater car park. Summit hike 30min up. €15 entrance + €12 mandatory guide.
Naples day-trip: avoid driving. Train from Pompeii Scavi is easy. National Archaeological Museum (€12) and a margherita at Sorbillo (Via dei Tribunali 32 — queue or app).
Camping Spartacus max motorhome length: 7.3m. Larger need 2 pitches — confirm when booking.
