Pick up the motorhome at Molde Airport (rental desks in the terminal or adjacent). First stop: Rema 1000 in Molde city (GPS [2])62.73617.1567 for 3-day food supplies — the Atlantic Road has one small shop, Geiranger has expensive tourist shops. Drive 5 minutes to Varden viewpoint (GPS [3])62.73977.1889: a 189m hill above Molde giving the "87 mountain peaks" panorama — the snow-capped Romsdals Alps reflected in the Romsdals fjord. Then drive northwest on Rv64 (60km, 1h) along the coast toward the Atlantic Road starting point at Vevang.

Practical Tips

Varden viewpoint: 5 min drive from the airport on Varden road. Free parking, 10-min walk to summit. The panorama is the best free view on the loop — particularly good in morning light with clear conditions. Check weather before committing the detour.
Rema 1000 Molde: full supermarket, open Mon–Sat 07:00–22:00, Sun 08:00–21:00. Buy pasta, canned fish, fruit, and the Norwegian speciality mackerel-in-tomato-sauce (makrell i tomat, €1.50/tin, essential motorhome food). Fill the water tank here.
Rv64 coastal drive: the road to the Atlantic Road start passes through Eide and Vevang — small coastal villages with 19th-century clapboard houses. Stop at Vevang (GPS [4])62.98877.1783 for coffee before the bridge sequence begins.
Atlanterhavstunnelen (if using this route): the 5.7km undersea tunnel south of Kristiansund provides a shortcut — but it's more dramatic to drive over the Atlantic Road bridges than under the fjord. Use the tunnel for the return leg.
